Alas Pilipinas Men Clinch Bronze at 2024 Southeast Asian Volleyball Championship
Despite a challenging start, Alas Pilipinas Men managed to secure a commendable bronze medal in the opening stages of the 2024 Southeast Asian Volleyball Championship (SEA V. League). The team faced a formidable challenge against Thailand, ultimately succumbing to them with set scores of 26-28, 14-25, and 16-25.
The absence of team captain and key player Bryan Bagunas, who was sidelined due to injury, presented a significant hurdle for the Filipino squad. However, Noel Kampton stepped up admirably, scoring 10 crucial points. Leo Ordiales and Michaelo Buddin also played pivotal roles, contributing 7 points each to the team’s efforts.
On the opposing side, Thailand showcased exceptional performance with Bhinijdee Napadet and Nilsawai Kissada leading the charge, each amassing 14 points. Phanram Anurak added 13 points, securing Thailand's first ever SEA V. League title.
Indonesia emerged triumphant with the silver medal, maintaining their dominance from the previous year's championship. Despite finishing with a record of 1-2, Alas Pilipinas demonstrated resilience and sportsmanship, earning their well-deserved bronze.
In individual accolades, Michaelo Buddin was recognized as one of the Best Outside Hitters, and Kim Malabunga received honors as the Best Middle Blocker. This victory marks a significant milestone for the team and highlights their potential for future success in the tournament.
